5th Grade Cromer Expendables vs Dee Why RSL November 24 2012

Day 1 on 17 November saw Cromer making 254 in their first innings with Isaac Alexander top scoring on 74. In reply DY RSL were 1 for 70 with Suresh Anthony (1/23) picking up the only wicket at stumps on Day 1 and so quick wickets were needed from the start of Day 2 with the game evenly poised. Bronson McPherson (3/63), and Shriram Krishnan (4/33) bowled with great effect to take the necessary wickets along with some runouts to claim Cromer Expendable’s first win of the season.

DY RSL all out for 134 with 12 year old Ethan Jenkins and 11 year old Lachlan Scheffers helping out in the field saving heaps of runs with some great fielding.

A quick team talk and the opportunity for an outright win seemed possible so DY RSL were invited to bat again. Shriram and Bronson quickly hit there rhythm bowling some great lines. Soon the wickets started to fall. Martin Raphael (2/46) came on as first change bowler. Young Lachlan (2/18) was handed the ball and quickly had the batsman in trouble picking up a wicket in his first over in Senior cricket. Bronson (5/73) brought up a well deserve 5 for. Amarnath M Dwarakanath (1/8) took the final wicket with Cromer needing 51 to claim an outright. Cromer compiled the necessary runs 4 wickets down to claim the outright victory.

Player of the Day was no doubt Bronson McPherson who bowled unchanged on Day 2 for a total of 26 overs. Many thanks to DY RSL for supporting and encouraging the young cricketers (Ethan & Lachlan) to enable them to enjoy the afternoon playing cricket with the seniors.
