Cromer BBQs Play of the Day - Nick James and Todd Schuiling November 24 2012
Week 1 of the 2-day game against Harbord BC had not ended well for the BBQs with wicketkeeper George Wyllie dislocating a finger whilst trying to make a leg-side save to an errant delivery. Things did not improve when stand-in ‘keeper, skipper Jason Perry, incurred the same injury on just the second ball of Day 2.
Given these two events, no-one would have blamed Nick James if he had shown some reluctance to take over the ‘keeping duties, as he often has during his time in the team. Not only did he manage to keep all of his finger joints intact for the entirety of the day, he also managed to snare three sharp catches with the gloves which provided the catalyst for a Cromer victory.
Snuffing the fight out of the Harbord tail was Todd Schuiling. Playing his last week for the BBQs before heading abroad for more snowboarding adventures, Todd’s late inswingers proved too much for Harbord BC’s lower-order batsmen. Bowling unchanged from the Northern end, he departed the Northern Beaches in style, returning the very impressive figures of 12 overs, 4 maidens, 4 for 12.
