Cromer BBQs Play of the Day - Scott Waygood November 04 2012

Keen to stamp their mark on 2nd Grade as newly-anointed competition leaders, Cromer set about this task with the intention of posting a big first innings score after winning the toss and electing to bat in their Round 4 encounter.

But the Wakehurst Redbacks’ attack had other ideas and had soon reduced the BBQs to 3/55. It was at this point that Scott Waygood, impervious to the challenging overcast conditions, set about taking the attack to the Redbacks bowlers. Punishing everything over-pitched, and merciless on anything fractionally short, as is his wont, Scott was instrumental in getting the innings back on track.

He appeared set for a giant payday, before inexplicably holing out to the solitary man in the deep, stationed on the boundary directly behind the umpire, with his score on 48. Nevertheless, Scott’s fine innings was an instrumental component of the BBQ’s competitive total of 233.
