Cromer BBQs Play of the Day - Counsell, Wyllie, S Waygood October 27 2012
A great team effort saw the BBQ’s capitalise on their fantastic performance the prior Saturday.
A first innings lead off 88 afforded Cromer the opportunity to enforce the follow-on with a fresh bowling attack ready and raring to go. After Manly Leagues threatened to bat themselves back into the game with a 2nd wicket partnership of 47, Michael Counsell (3/40) and Andrew Wyllie (3/44) combined once more to snare 3 wickets with no change to the opposition’s score.
Another brief fightback from Leagues, in the form of a 43-run stand, was quickly snuffled out by Scott Waygood (3/11). Chasing just 36 runs in their second innings, Cromer’s experimental batting order briefly faltered at 3/7, before some lusty hitting from Michael Counsell put the result beyond doubt.
The outright victory, by 6 wickets, took Cromer to the competition lead in 2nd Grade, by a margin of 3 points.
